Bernard Walhin is a sculptor. He practices metal assembly, the iron. In his work, the characters and horses are treated alike: bridled, cornered, they seem in a perpetual conflict with their own burdens. His creations are characterized by an “hypersensitive” expressiveness and an intense tension that always materializes in a fragile balance. In the tradition of Romanticism and Expressionism, the artist probes the depths of the soul. It was important for the SPACE to pay tribute to this artist who died too young but also to make sure to preserve a testimony of his creation by buying one of his works. The acquired artwork is a bronze made in 2005 from a wax mold produced at the Academy of Fine Arts of Liege. (Alain De Clerck)
